There is a hiker parking lot on Gulf Road (See Mile 8.3 of Section 3). Day parking might be possible along Dalton streets. From the intersection the northbound trail to Section 3 goes northwest along a short abandoned section of road, then follows High St which becomes Gulf Road. Rotate the street view on the attached map to the northwest to see this route. The southbound trail to Section 4 goes east along MA 8, soon crossing the Housatonic River. From the south: See Mile 4.0 for directions to the junction of MA 8 and McNerney Road in Becket. Follow McNerney Road northwest. The name changes to Washington Monument road. The trail crossing is 6.4 miles from MA 8.

From the north: The directions from US 7 in Pitsfield are too complex to reproduce here. Use the Get Directions option on the attached map.

The trail crossing is at the intersection of PIttsfield (Washington Mountain) Road and a dirt road (called Beach Road on the attached map). There is a small parking area on the east side of Pittsfield Road just north of the intersection
The street view to the north on the map shows the parking area. The northbound trail goes into the woods just to the right of the parking area. The southbound trail follows dirt Beach Road southwest for 0.1 miles. The west view shows Beach Road in that direction. 12/30/20 4-6
